  Meristematic Tissue

Plant tissues are of two kinds: meristematic and permanent. Meristematic tissues are those that remain capable of dividing; permanent tissues are those that have lost this ability. Sometimes, permanent cells recover the capacity to divide (and, thus, are only temporarily permanent!).
